Scholarship Endowment

One of the most generous ways you can contribute to the DREAM Institute and leave your legacy is by helping the DREAM Institute endow its scholarship programs so that the DREAM Institute can annually award Comprehensive Scholar Award Packages to students transitioning from secondary to post-secondary (higher education) institutions that can include up to full tuition and fees, academic assistance (i.e. tutoring), and living stipend – along with support that can only be felt with the heart such as academic and professional mentorship during a scholar's college experience!

The endowment fund will also provide other small one time scholarships that can range from $1000 to $7000.

How is it done?

From the very inception of the DREAM Institute, the philosophy of the Board of Trustees has been to establish scholarship endowment funds. These funds can be individual funds with naming opportunities set by the donor. In addition to these individual scholarship endowment funds, we have also established a general scholarship endowment fund to support scholarships programs.

The general scholarship endowment fund is managed by the Tulsa Community Foundation. The Tulsa Community Foundation is one of the leading community foundations in the nation and will work closely with the DREAM Institute Trustees to ensure that funds donated to the endowment are managed well to provide strong earnings for the DREAM Institute scholarship programs.

If you would like to set up an scholarship endowment and name it after you or a loved one, please contact the DREAM Institute planned giving advisors. This special scholarship endowment fund will be set up at the direction of the donor and will be invested at a financial investment company of their choice. If the donor has no preference, we will establish a fund with their specifications at the Tulsa Community Foundation.

Why should I give?

The scholarship endowment fund(s) will provide scholarship income for the DREAM Institute to assure that the Institute’s mission will be carried out for all generations. With the careful investment strategy of the Tulsa Community Foundation and the close monitoring of the DREAM Institute Trustees, we will ensure growth and have significant annual income to provide annual scholarships.

The income from the Scholarship Endowment Fund (s) will be used to provide scholarships for all generations. A minimum of 5% of the annual earnings will be distributed to the Institute to fund scholarships.

What do we currently have?

Currently, The DREAM Institute has two endowment funds established. We have established the general endowment fund that any one can donate to. This endowment fund is managed at the Tulsa Community Foundation and is closely monitored by the DREAM Institute Board of Trustees.

The Honorary "Senator Bob Dole" Scholar Award Endowed Fund

We also have been fortunate to have had an individual scholarship endowment fund set up in April 2004 by former U.S. Senator Bob Dole after visiting him in his Washington, D.C. Office. He left us with the quote, "it must start somewhere", and gave the Institute an unsolicited gift to endow a scholarship for students with disabilities attending a community college. The Institute established the endowment fund and called it the Honorary Senator Bob Dole Scholar Award Endowed Fund.

What is the ultimate endowment goal amount?

The DREAM Institute has implemented an aggressive strategic plan to establish its endowment (s). The DREAM Institute has set a bold goal to raise a total of $10,000,000 combinded of individual endowments set up by donors and the general scholarship endowment.
